Bridgeton man found with handgun stolen out of Camden County, police say

Terrence F. Smith, of Vineland Avenue, was charged with possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property, according to police.

BRIDGETON -- A 28-year-old city man was arrested Tuesday night after he was found with a handgun, authorities said.

Authorities responded at 11:32 p.m. while on foot patrol in the alleyway between Walnut and Bank streets when they found Smith walking.

Smith reportedly stopped immediately when officers called to him and was found in possession of a .22 caliber handgun stolen out of Medford Lakes, according to police.

Smith was arrested without incident, police said, and was held at the Cumberland County Jail on $11,525 bail.
