Crawford's father, Bruce Crawford, told The Press of Atlantic City that his son was on his way to his job at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pa., when the crash occurred at 10:30 a.m. The elder Crawford said his son took a job in Pennsylvania after he was laid off from his full- and part-time jobs when casinos closed in Atlantic City.
State Police said on Friday that Crawford lost control of his Hyundai Sonata before crashing into the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza in the westbound lanes in Hamilton Township. The car then burst into the flames, police said.
The toll takers were able to get out of their booths unharmed but Crawford was not able to get out of his car, police said.
