A man was in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the face while cleaning a gun Thursday, police said.
PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS -- A man was in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the face while cleaning a gun Thursday, township police said.
Patrol officers responded to the shooting call around 10:20 p.m. at a hotel on Route 46 east, police Officer Brian Conover said.
The victim, whose name was not released, told police he accidentally shot himself while cleaning a weapon, authorities said.
The Rockaway Neck Volunteer Ambulance Squad brought the wounded man to Morristown Medical Center after he was initially treated by police at the scene, Conover added.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and no charges have been filed.
