At about 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, police were dispatched to Astor Place on report of a large group of people, many who were intoxicated, fighting in the street, the report stated.
JERSEY CITY -- A Union City woman and her boyfriend were hospitalized late last night after the woman's son attacked the two in a street brawl, according to a police report.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, police were dispatched to Astor Place on report of a large group of people, many who were intoxicated, fighting in the street, police said.
When they arrived, the 41-year-old woman was lying in the middle of the street, police said.
The woman told police her 28-year-old son had assaulted her, causing her to fall, hit her head, and suffer from a seizure, the report indicated.
Police than spoke to the woman's boyfriend who said he was trying to protect her when the Jersey City man smashed him in the face with a beer bottle, police said.
Both the woman and her boyfriend were transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, the report indicated.
The woman was treated from minor lacerations on her arms and knees. She also had a bump on the back of her head. The boyfriend needed "several stitches" above his eye, police said.
The son, a Cambridge Avenue resident, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, the report stated.
After the arrest, the man asked for police to release his personal belongings to his girlfriend, which included $3,142 in cash and two gold rings, police said.
The name of the actor has been withheld from this report to protect the identities of the victims.
