ATLANTIC CITY -- Police on Saturday asked for the public's help to find an 18-year-old man who they said crashed a stolen car after a chase and ran from officers while carrying a handgun.
A city detective spotted Damaine Davis on Wednesday driving a car taken in armed robbery two days earlier, police said in a statement. Davis refused to stop and led officers on a chase through Atlantic City to Pleasantville.
Police said Davis crashed the car near the Sassafras Run apartment complex and ran from officers. During the foot chase, an officer saw Davis was holding a handgun.
Davis managed to escape into a wooded-area, according to police.
A 17-year-old girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was also in the stolen car and charged with unlawful taking of a means of conveyance, authorities said.
Davis, an Atlantic City resident, was wanted on charges of receiving stolen property, eluding, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a weapon, police said. The investigation into the prior armed robbery was ongoing.
Police urged anyone with information to call investigators at 609-347-5766, text anonymous tips to TIP411 (847411) or call Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
