Monmouth and Ocean counties down through parts of Burlington and Atlantic counties are projected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow
With snow falling overnight, New Jerseyans waking up Monday morning can expect to see slippery conditions across most of the state with the greatest accumulation on parts of the coastal plain.
Monmouth and Ocean counties down through parts of Burlington and Atlantic counties are projected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow, according to Sarah Johnson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly.
No accumulation is expected in the northwest corner of the state and the rest of New Jersey may see a dusting to one inch, Johnson said. The bulk of the snowfall will arrive late Sunday evening and early Monday morning, she said.
Most of the snowing should be done by the time of the morning commute, she said. Power outages may occur in some areas as snow accumulates on branches and wires.
But most of the snow that hits the roads won't stick around very long as warmer weather arrives later on Monday morning, according to Johnson. High temperatures across New Jersey on Monday will range from the upper 40s to the lower 50s, she said.
"Especially to start the morning commute, we could still see some slippery conditions, especially on untreated roads, bridges and overpasses, but then it's gonna be warming up pretty quickly," Johnson said.
"By midday or so, expect a good chunk of that snow to already be melting."
Motorists on the roads during the overnight hours, however, should be careful of slippery conditions and areas with heavier snowfall, Johnson said.
"There may be some brief reductions of visibility down to a mile or less," she said.
