Gale Gibson was temporarily suspended from her post at Essex County College last month.

NEWARK -- Gale Gibson, the county college president suspended during a growing scandal, is reportedly a finalist for another college job across the country.

According to a Seattle Times report, Gibson is one of three people being considered for a chancellor job at Seattle Colleges. The job will open when the current chancellor retires in June, the report says.

Gibson was temporarily suspended from her job last month as president of Essex County College for unnamed reasons.

Gibson's attorney later said the school said the suspension came after allegations that she tampered with emails and attempted to block complaints about her. Through her attorney, Gibson denied the allegations, and argued that she was being unfairly targeted as part of a political maneuver after she initiated investigations into alleged misconduct in the school's printing and athletic departments.

School officials later confirmed that the state has subpoenaed documents from the college related to the athletics scandal.

College General Counsel and Vice President for Human Resources Rashidah Hasan was also suspended, though the reasons for her suspension remain unknown.

A temporary acting president has been named to oversee the college while Gibson's suspension is in place.
