The first shooting was reported in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Atlantic Street at around 10 p.m.last night. The victim, whose age was not immediately known, was shot three times and taken to Jersey City Medical Center, police said over the radio.
Police said he suffered gunshot wounds to the lower left leg, lower right leg and buttocks, however the injuries were not considered life-threatening at the time.
Hours after the first shooting, police responded to Fulton Avenue between Ocean and Garfield avenues just after 3 a.m. and found a male on the ground with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, police said over the radio.
The victim told police when he went to check on his vehicle outside his home, a male and female emerged from the backyard and shot him from behind, police said over the radio.
The shooter was reportedly wearing a mask, police said.
The victim was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, police said over the radio. Additional information on the victim's condition was not immediately available this morning.
The two shootings come on the heels of a rash of gun violence in the southern and western parts of Jersey City. During a six-day spasm of violence, which began May 25, 10 were people shot, including Tyrell Franklin, 28, who was killed May 26 in Audubon Park.
Franklin is the 10th homicide victim in Hudson County this year.
