The body was found floating in the Delaware River outside the Navy Yard.
PHILADELPHIA -- A body pulled out of the Delaware River was so decomposed that authorities could not determine the person's gender or race, according to reports.
The boater discovered the floating body Saturday around 7 p.m. near the Navy Yard on the 4500 block of South Broad Street in South Philadelphia, 6ABC.com reported. The boater called Philadelphia Police Department, which sent its marine unit to pull the body from the water.
According to NBCPhiladelpha.com, authorities were unable to determine the body's sex or gender due to the extent of its decomposition.
The body was sent to the medical examiner's office for further investigation.
