Scott Gurian is an award-winning journalist who knows no limits when it comes to getting a great story. His coverage of Superstorm Sandy helped WNYC score a Peabody Award, and he helped launch NJSpotlight.com's environmental investigative series "Dirty Little Secrets."
Scott Gurian But the lengths Gurian will go to for a great story are soon to surpass several thousand miles as he and his brother, Drew, a professional photographer, will trek from London to Mongolia in a tiny, used car with less power than a typical hybrid vehicle.
It is expected to be a 7-week journey that will take them through about 20 countries.
"This is a big trip we're taking. Driving through parts of the world that the average American has never been through - through the "Stans," Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and places that just sound so foreign and can be a little scary if you haven't done much traveling," said Gurian on the latest edition of The Backgrounder Podcast. "It seems like a really great thing to document. We'll have tons of stories along the way."
The stories Gurian gets from the journey will be featured on his new podcast called far from home, which just recently went online.
