The two biggest names in daily fantasy sports, DraftKings and FanDuel, are currently in preliminary talks about a merger, according to Bloomberg.

The embattled companies have both faced legal challenges in a handful of states, including New York, since late last year with officials questioning whether or not betting on daily lineups is gambling and illegal.

Anonymous sources told Bloomberg Monday since the two sites offer similar services and spend a lot of money to compete with each other, stakeholders have discussed a merger before but no deal has been agreed upon and the talks could still fall apart.

In New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie has repeatedly said he does not consider the daily competitions to be gambling. Lawmakers in D.C. have called on the Federal Trade Commission to regulate the sites.

Neither company would comment on the Bloomberg report.
