'Arthur' and 'Edmond' spur noise complaint
AVALON -- A pair of loquacious parrots got a break from a judge Monday, but if they want to avoid further legal trouble, the Pollys are going to have to pipe down -- or at least go indoors.
The Press of Atlantic City reports that the talkative birds, "Arthur" and "Edmund," were the subject of a noise complaint filed by a neighbor of their owner, Elaine Scattergood. Scattergood kept the birds on her porch, where they enjoy interacting with people headed to the beach. But the chatter led to the noise complaint, filed in May by the anonymous neighbor.
"The reason I like to have Edmund and Arthur on the porch is because people like them," Scattergood told the paper. "They say 'hello' to the birds and the birds say 'hello' back. Now it's all stopped due to this humbug."
The judge ruled Monday that the summons would be dismissed after 90 days if no additional violations are reported.
