JERSEY CITY -- A 41-year-old Jersey City man was charged with possession of 14 glassine envelopes containing suspected heroin with the logo "Pepsi" and one bag of suspected marijuana in a Heights park Friday.
Joey Rohena, of Poplar Street, is charged with possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of Leonard Gordon Park, located at Manhattan Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard, and within 1,000 feet of Nicholas Copernicus School, located at 3385 Kennedy Boulevard, the criminal complaint says.
The complaint says Rohena was sitting on a bench in the park when approached by police.
He has seven prior arrests and a criminal conviction for endangering the welfare of a child, court officials said when Rohena made his first appearance on the new charges Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City today via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.
