An analysis of 2014 crash statistics for state highways revealed the 10 sections that were home to the most crashes.
If you're driving on Route 22, be extra cautious between Jefferson and Madison Avenues in Union Township.
The same advice holds true for beachgoers taking Route 37 through Toms River or commuters driving on Route 46 near the infamous Route 3 split in Little Falls.
They're among the 10 sections of highway where you're most likely to have a collision, based on an NJ Advance Media analysis of state Department of Transportation 2014 crash statistics. That turned up eight highways with the most crash prone sections in the state.
Some are no surprise, such as the busy section of Route 22 in Union Township that has retail stores on the center median that separates the east and westbound lanes. That barely one-mile long section of highway had 246 crashes last year, down from 262 collisions in 2014, but that was still enough to be ranked at the top of the crash list both years.
A four-mile section of Route 37, familiar to anyone in the state who's driven to the Seasides, ranked second with 236 collisions last year. And everyone's favorite piece of aging infrastructure, the Pulaski Skyway, also made the demolition derby list.
Like to shop? Close proximately to retail centers might explain why two-mile sections of Route 17 in Paramus and Route 1 near the Quaker Bridge and Mercer malls in West Windsor made the list.
Seven of the highways had the same dubious distinction in 2013 and three sections on Routes 1, 17 and 130 were new to the list last year.

What makes them dangerous? Crashes are counted in the hundreds on relatively short sections of highway that have some hefty traffic volumes. The longest stretch of the 10 roads was four and a half miles long.
If there is a positive note, the total number of crashes went down slightly on four of them, however, they increased on three sections since 2013. The list:
