Neither Cape May County man has been charged in the September collision
The two crew members operating a yacht that struck a recreational boat and killed a fisherman off the coast of Rhode Island are both from New Jersey, officials said.
Cooper W. Bacon and William L. Noe III were aboard a 60-foot, 2016 Viking Princess 60 when it collided with a 23-foot, 1989 Steiger Craft on Sept. 22, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said in a news release Wednesday.
Neither Bacon, 76, of Cape May Courthouse, nor Noe, 73, of Woodbine, have been charged, according to officials.
The collision off the coast of Westerly, R.I., near Napatree Point killed Walter S. Krupinski, 81, of Stonington, Conn.
The Rhode Island DEM said it released the names of the crew members because it is looking for witnesses or video to aid its investigation.
Bacon and Noe were bringing the yacht from the Newport Boat Show to a boat show in Old Saybrook, Conn, officials said.
Officials have declined to release additional information about the collision.
