BURLINGTON TWP. -- Police in the township are looking for two men who tried to steal liquor from a Shop Rite store on Labor Day.
Officers were called to the supermarket in the middle of the afternoon for what was initially reported as an attempted robbery. Two black men -- one between the ages of 18 and 20, standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and another in his mid-20s, standing about 5 feet, 7 inches -- were caught trying to seal three bottles of alcohol, police said. When they were stopped by a loss prevention employee, the two dropped the merchandise and fled.

The pair left the scene in a newer-model black Jeep Laredo, traveling on Route 541 toward Elbow Lane. Police said there was no visible registration on the vehicle, and that it may have been removed before the the shoplifting.
