CRANFORD -- An elderly woman who apparently suffered a medical condition while driving her car out of her driveway wound up plunging into the Rahway River with her husband seated in the passenger side, according to authorities.
Union County spokesman Seb D'Elia said the woman crossed through her neighbor's yard on Crescent Place before driving into the river around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

She was given CPR after being extricated from the car by local police and was taken to Overlook Hospital in Summit, D'Elia said.
The woman's husband was transported to University Hospital in Newark, but appeared to be not have any life-threatening injuries.
D'Elia said the woman's condition was unknown and police are withholding the identity of the couple until their family can be notified.
