JERSEY CITY -- A 26-year-old felon who is on parole was ordered held on a $100,000 cash only bail today after being charged with pointing a gun at someone last month.

Clayton Curreton, of the 100 block of Wegman Parkway, allegedly committed aggravated assault by pointing a gun at a victim on Nov. 7 in Jersey City. He is also charged with weapons offenses related to the gun, the criminal complaint states.

Additionally, he is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon after being convicted of aggravated assault in New Jersey or elsewhere, the complaint says.

Curreton was arrested Friday and he made his first court appearance on the charges today in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link in Hudson County jail in Kearny.

Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor John Wojtal requested the high bail based in part on the fact that Curreton has been arrested while on parole.
