Jersey City man rams wife's car after domestic argument, cops say

A 45-year-old Jersey City man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly ramming his wife's car with his own vehicle as she attempted to leaving during a domestic incident on Sunday.

JERSEY CITY -- A 45-year-old city man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly ramming his wife's car with his own vehicle as she following an argument on Sunday.

The Johnston Avenue resident is charged with "aggravated assault by using his vehicle to intentionally strike the rear and passenger side of the victim's (name omitted) vehicle," the criminal complaint states.

"He was in an argument with his wife and she tried to leave with her vehicle and he rammed her car with his car," Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Tracy McQuade said when the man made his first court appearance on the charges today.

"Both cars suffered damage," McQuade added. 

Central Judicial Processing Court Judge Margaret Marley set the defendant's bail at $20,000 with a 10 percent cash option when he appeared in court this afternoon via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny, and also ordered he have not contact with the alleged victim.

Probable cause for the charges is the statement the woman made to police, the complaint says, adding that police also photographed both vehicles. 

The man's name was omitted from this report to protect the identity of his wife.
